history highlights

In the Beginning...

March 22, 1857 – The Colored Union Baptist Church was founded in Racine, WI.

November 27, 1888 – The church was re-organized, created in trust, and recorded in the Register of Deeds Office by Mr. Charles Ware as the Second Baptist Colored Church of Racine County, WI.

December 1916 – Judge Bolden appointed Mr. John C. Hood as Trustee. Following this action, the church was again re-organized and recorded by the Register of Deeds Office as the St. Paul Baptist Church with the Rev. Edwin Hatton as Pastor.

...Later...

November 25, 1949 – It was determined in planning for a new building; two names existed in the Register of Deeds Office for the same site.

Rev. Bailey and the Trustees then requested and were granted consolidation of Second Baptist Colored Church and St. Paul Baptist Church Society to become the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

June 1981, the Rev. Lawrence L. Kirby was called to Pastor the Saint Paul Missionary Baptist church.

Apostle's creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and Earth and in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord; and He was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary; that He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; that He rose again on the third day; that He ascended into Heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead; I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Church Universal, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the Resurrection of the body and Life Everlasting. Amen

We gladly welcome you to our church home. Trusting that if you are seeking Christ, you will find Him here. If sorrowing, you will receive Comfort. If troubled in spirit, you will gain the blessings of Peace. If discouraged, you will rejoice in Hope. If friendless, find companionship and Christian Love. That these and other blessings will be your portion is our Prayer.
